The auto censoring machinations at the MSM spin factories have created an interesting derivative, almost reminscent of the time of earliest printed newspaper: the itinerant reporter! The news as it happens (as opposed to 'the news as we like to report it') - the items that the MSM is suppressing, doctoring or manipulating - is being picked up by the bloggers and other niche reporters.

This week concentrated on the Stop Islamization of Europe (SIOE) demo on 9/11 in Brussels, which was ninety percent MSM suppressed and some ten percent re-framed/selectively emphasized. Now that the dust is settling it can be said it is no surprise that participation was low, as large numbers of would be picketers were hauled in by the police, long before even reaching the place of action. Here's one astonishing account.

I am suspending endorsement by this blog of the SIOE, until some leadership issues have been settled satisfactory: the removal of my critique, while it is dealt with by the British Branch in the usual defensive terms, is but the last straw. I do owe the readershipan account of the day's press conference. Here it is. Skender has the latest slide show.

In all the suspense and emotion the virtual itinerant reporter might almost overlook a mighty interesting article that was published in the MSM, in this case in today's Times Online: an account of how Israel this week flattened Syria's nork pile: "Israelis 'blew apart Syrian nuclear cache' - Secret raid on Korean shipment":

"It was just after midnight when the 69th Squadron of Israeli F15Is crossed the Syrian coast-line. On the ground, Syria's formidable air defences went dead. An audacious raid on a Syrian target 50 miles from the Iraqi border was under way ... As a bonus, the Israelis proved they could penetrate the Syrian air defence system, which is stronger than the one protecting Iranian nuclear sites. >>>

Updates on the "Stop the Islamization in Europe".

I am reporting on the demo as news breaks from a number of Belgian sites which are mostly in Flemish. I will make on the spot translations. My typing may not be hundred percent, as speed considerations prevail.

12.00 hours: Assembly now at Schuman Square.

12.10 hours: arrest have been made. Reverting. Socialist Mayor apparently issued a "No Passaran".

12.15 hours: Focus TV - Even before noon some 10 people have been arrested on Luxemburg Square. It is uncertain who they are. Apart from the neo Nazi trolls, there's also fear for Arab European League (AEL)presence. This immigrants advocacy organization is closely linked to Hezbollah. They are best described as Radical Islamicist Marxists. The secessionist Vlaams Belang political party - loosely translated as 'Flemish Interests' - were prominently around. Reverting.

12.35 hours: Brussels News Radio is reporting that the anti Islamization rally has "of course" been prohibited by the Mayor. Brussels' European quarter seems under a state of siege. Mounted police and press everywhere. About 200 Vlaams Belang (VB) people have been arrested very heavy handedly and taken away in police vans to the "Palace of Justice". Its chairman has been filmed - kicking and screaming - and shouting: "Is this democracy in Belgium?!". A number of Brussels Council members are present: mentioned were Johan Arkens, Johan Demol and Jos van Assen. Police presence is massive. At the train (or metro) station a number of Dutch neo Nazi trolls have been arrested. There are a few counter demonstrators around, yelling "racists". Of our people, no mention at all ... reverting.

13.00 hours: A number of Flemish and Dutch media are marginally reporting that Philip Dewinter, the political leader of Vlaams Belang, has been arrested, while shouting: "We are against the Islamization of Europe". This is bad news, folks. Our demo is being overshadowed by Vlaams Belang, who - as organization of some repute - draw most of the attention. Our message is "lumped" together with their reputation of being nothing short of "extreme Rightist" (by European crypto Marxist standards, that is). Sht!

14.15 hours: Some Belgian MSM are reporing the demo is basically over. The police tactic seems to be have been to concentrate the demo on Schuhman Sq. This was as per agreement however. I'm still screening, but this seems to be basically it ... No mention of if AEL members are around; some considered the planned counter rally by AEL a ploy, an excuse for Freddy to blackball the SIOE demo, anyway.

14.30 hours: Henrik, commentator on Gates of Vienna, reporting as follows: "My Hungarian friend now reports that they held the planned 1 minute of silence for the victims of 9/11, and that there will be a press conference at 16:30. They are at Luxembourg Square (next to the EP), no police brutality has been spotted there." They seemed to have concentrated their violent efforts on Vlaams Belang ... I'll try to find more on this press conference ...

15.20 hours: First images, a sort of slide presentation (scroll down a bit!) on "Het Belang van Limburg", a provincial news outlet. What it comes down to, is the molestation of VB people, VanHecke and Dewinter, by the police. Further on more VB people in tees and blacks bags over their heads. The elderly gentleman shown at the end of the presentation looks like he just had his first demo. It doesn't look good at all, folks ... reverting.

15.30 hours: International Herald Tribune: "Police arrest 2 far-right Belgian leaders at anti-Islam 9/11 protest" >>>

16.15 hours: Baron Bodissey at Gates of Vienna reporting as follows: "Italian Euro-Deputy Arrested in Brussels" - From the feedback section at the Brussels Journal - Belgian police have stopped the Euro Deputy of the "Lega Nord" Mario Borghezio before an anti-Islam protest. Borghezio in person told that in a phone call, he told he was in a police van and denounced beatings from police officers. He's supposely being held with another 20 people."

16.25 hours: Vlaams Belang (VB) website reporting without further details, that French MEP Carl Lang is also one of those arrested.

16.55 hours: More pics on Yahoo News: undisputed First Prize ... Cum Laude (above): Solvit! Indeed ...

17.05 hours: Dutch Socialist news rag De Volkskrant has an article which describes the typical European attitude that will be our undoing: "The Belgian media criticised the heavy handed police actions; Dewinter and Vanhecke can now present themselves as martyrs. "It's correct that Europe and its values are in danger", reacted Secretary General Terry Davis of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. "But the danger is not emanating from Islam. Our common European values are undermined by demogogues and radicals, both Islamic and Isla
mophobe, who are exploiting fear and bigotry for their own political profit". ... for the time being it's unSolvit, or more probable: deSolvit!

19.00 hours: Vlaams Belang (VB) website has a video running of today's disturbing goings-on in front of the Euro Parliament Building in Brussels. One conclusion from this war zone and its preparations is undeniable: there are three parties calling the shots in Belgium (and this is probably true for Europe as a whole): crypto Marxists, neo Nazis and Islamists: the unholy totalitarian threesom. Mayor Freddy 'The Toad' Thielemans owes Stop Islamization of Europe Organization, what can by now be termed, a Veritable Global Celebrity Status! Let's show him once more in full glory:

Here comes the U.S. Cavalry to the rescue of the brave men and women who are out there tomorrow, saving Europe from the clutches of the Marxist Khalifate of Brussels! Well, perhaps not the real cavalry, but a few pick-me-ups, anyway:

While already in the process of 'fisking' captioned news item on the official website of The Socialist Group in the European Parliament to shreds, I concluded with a certain tired melancholy that one doesn't actually know where to begin.

As a supporter of the SIOE, personal insults on the basis of Socialists' "beliefs" aside, let's restrict ourselves for the moment to the main conclusions:

1. The European Socialists are leading "international support" for the SIOE 9/11 demo ban by their ideological colleague, the Mayor of Brussels. They do so by reaffirming their "belief" that "intercultural dialogue is the best way of dealing with the sources of fundamentalist terrorism" - a discourse they propose to conduct with a cultural and religious section of society (Muslims) who have no relation whatsoever with said "fundamentalist terrorism". Why then have the dialogue, about "the sources",in the first place? This circular reasoning doesn't make sense and begs for a rational clarification!

2. In the face of the seriousness of the situation - this week alone there were two thwarted terrorist attempts, one in Germany and another in Denmark, both of which were unrelated to the Religion of Peace - the Socialists seem to be leaning rather heavily on their "belief". Actually it's rather inadequate, considering authorities' first duty: assuring the safety of the population.

3. The Socialist Group leader's title wouldn't be unbecoming the Head Boy of a local Scouting Club, but that doesn't stand in the way of launching some serious investigations. Later in the letter, belief makes place for conviction: "Like you, we are convinced that the people behind this demonstration want above all to stigmatise a community for dark racist and xenophobic reasons as is proven by the readiness to lump Islam together with fundamentalist terrorism."

It's quite obvious how Mr Schulz has convinced himself of the above, but one thing is for sure: his vigorous research didn't extend to visiting the SIOE's websites or the reading of SIOE press releases. But then, he didn't have to, did he? 'Lumping' is all the proof required for vile accusations and the withdrawal of democratic rights. Hey, let's lump some more! All Socialists are paternalistic authoritarians!

~ Continued from Part 8: Hysterically Moving the Goal Posts ~

In the present series on the intricacies of Postmodernism (Pomo, or crypto cultural Marxism) we are looking at the use of language, speech in particular. In the preceding posts we discussed a number of the peculiarities that are the result of the Postmodern way of looking at language: not as a vehicle for the transmission of objective data, but to convey a personal version of reality.

In this instalment we'll go further into what the consequences are for the application of Pomo speech: the restriction of free speech by the apparent changing of the rule book in mid-play, as witnessed at present by the Socialist Mayor of Brussels in prohibiting an independent, Paneuropean, grassroots demo against the Islamization of the continent.

In an article adapted from a lecture address given by Stephen Hicks at The Objectivist Center during the 2002 Summer Seminar we find our answer. Hicks uncovers the Left's totalitarian designs on free speech, which they find must be 'redistributed' like tax payer's money.

Hicks, in explaining the idea, uses the analogy of a largely American policy, which has proved useful during the early years of civil rights movement: positive action (or affirmative action, or positive discrimination), and a practical example from the world of sports: shooting hoops with a star basketball champ, who's been lumbered with ankle weights to equalize the chances.

As in some sports, this Marxist vehicle to multiculturalism posits to fit out the stronger, established groups with a similar 'handicap'. The weaker cultural, social and ethnic groups - the subjective minorities, or oppressed victims - are compensated in a measure approximately proportionate to their inequality. Thus the playing field is levelled.

As a temporary policy positive action may have served its purposes, but it has created institutionalized inequality instead of eradicating it. It now comes back to haunt us: the Left is using the same principle to suppress speech rights for the established, supposedly stronger majority.

The collectivist, subjective set of measures is the expectant mother of many evils, but a potentially devastating consequence is, that it may turn the Western world into an intellectual graveyard as individual freedom to pursue knowledge through debate, critique and free enquiry, is being suppressed.

Hicks provides a few samples of speech code which we've all come to know very well, potentially turning perpetrators into veritable criminals:

"Any behavior, verbal or physical, that stigmatizes or victimizes an individual or a group on the basis of race, sex, religion, color, creed, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry or age of the individual or individuals, etc. etc. ...... "

... which acts as a handicap for the established, stronger social groups. Moreover, Postmodern Leftists have literally taken leave of their senses, making no distinction between speech, and act, as Classical Liberalism has always made a point of doing.

Speech may have the intent to hurt. Sound waves beating against the other party's eardrums are just as bad as hitting him over the head with a baseball club. Therefore, the symbolic date of 9/11 for the Brussels demo, lumped the process of Islamization together with a terrorist act on that date!

That's why, in the International Herald Tribune Burgomaster Freddy goes on the record as saying that in a secular democracy "it cannot be that women and men are ... suspected of having committed the worst crimes" simply because they are Muslims, while in fact the demonstrators are not committing any such crudity! All they want is equality and Roman law, not Sharia.

The moving of the goal posts - declaring the rules applicable to one side only - works in tandem with the above surreal confusion of terms. It is one of Marxism's concepts to win power - or destruct. We've seen it at work in the persistent calling for tolerance, to which we should add: "yes, but that only applies to you, stupid!", as it acts as an equalizing ankle weight for the establishment: they are to practice tolerance, they may not generalize, are not allowed to stigmatize, or discriminate.

The Left on the other hand, and by extension all the weaker, oppressed minority groups which they portent to represent, are above such conventions and can breach the rule book for all they are worth. And we, stupid objectivists, still thinking there's just one set of rules for the whole of humanity ...!

It's a decades old invention of the grandfather of the Frankfurt School of Western Marxism, Herbert Marcuse. It's called repressive tolerance. The Socialist Mayor of Brussels is simply applying cultural Marxism to the entire continent of Europe!

For daily purposes the Left imposes their one-sided rules by the social pressure of political correctness. In other cases a verdict by an independent court is required. That court will apply the Belgian Anti Racism Act.

While redistribution of capital used to be the favorite means to Utopia for economical Marxism, in this case the redistribution of speech rights is the pet vehicle to cultural egalitarianism (multiculturalism). As for the Muslims, success breeds conceit: they're supposed to be the new gays!

Yesterday the Belgian Council of State has ruled to uphold the mayoral ban on the Stop Islamization of Europe (SIOE) demonstration, to be held on 9/11.

Initially the Court postponed the ruling to decide if the appeal should be presented in Flemish or in French. Today, however, the Council of State has cut the case short and ruled outright to uphold the ban. According to the verdict Udo Ulfkotte of the SIOE organization hasn't proved his interests are harmed by the Thielemans ban.

Brussels Journal: "Belgian High Court Maintains Ban Against Anti-Islamist Demonstration" - This verdict may sound nonsensical to non-Belgians, but in Belgium it is not considered harmful to have one's political freedoms restricted. In Belgium it is also considered quite normal that the lawyer representing Mayor Thielemans before the CoS is Marc Uyttendaele. The latter is one of the most expensive lawyers in the country. He is also the husband of Laurette Onkelinx, the Belgian minister of Justice, who is responsible for appointing, promoting and suspending judges. >>>

International Herald Tribune: "Brussels court upholds ban on anti-Islam protest planned for Sept. 11" (A.P.) - IHT allows a peep into the spin kitchen, how perceptions are got at in a way that can only be termed, demagogy: "In a secular democracy "it cannot be that women and men are ... suspected of having committed the worst crimes" simply because they are Muslims, said Thielemans" ... as if that is the focus of the protest! In one word: Dιgoutant, Widerlich, Walgelijk, Disgusting!!! >>>

This is news indeed! After Trolls United on 9/9 are accusing the Bush administration of having murdered 3,000 innocent people in cold blood for political gain, we now have the agents provocateurs of the AEL stirring the pot by adding insult to injury! This is crunch-time for Burgomeister Freddy Thielemans: is he going to allow this Hezbollah-by-proxy manifestation to go ahead on 9/11?! Is Freddy's veil about to drop? Is the Unholy Alliance itself about to grace Europe's proud capital with a presence?

AEL's declarations on the Belgian news site HLN.BE is oozing a toxic mix of veined innocence and victimhood, while relying on World War II ghosts and communist boogies to create the required poisoned atmosphere. AEL is accusing the SIOE of generalization, of lumping the entire peace-loving mainstream Ummah together with a coincidental terrorist fringe (the basis of Thielemans' legal prohibition), while unblinkingly coming up with a counter generalization: "Europe at last is showing its racist and imperialistic character". As Europe however is part of the realm of the White Patriarchal Oppressor, this will be no basis for a counter-prohibition: it is as yet not a deed of bigotry to lump all Europeans together as racists.

It must be said that Dyab Abu Jahjah is a rather clever, little demagogue who's learned in his native Lebanon how to play ethnic and religious divisions to the advantage of Leftist Fascism. He's known to be fiercely pro free speech; how else can he stoke up the civil strife that he wants? Possibly in a reaction to the next two entries, in another article on HLN.BE, he's denouncing the hypocrisy of the SIOE appeal to moderate Muslims, in no uncertain terms:

"The train has left and where it will end is predictable: an enlightened Kristallnacht". According to the AEL, an Islamic ghost has been created (see the imaginary ghost photo of 9/11 .. oh, I forgot .. 't Was BusHitler and them Dews that did 9/11!,) so as not to discuss "the real problems of capitalist society", which are indeed unsurmountable! This guy should have been a speech writer for Adolf Hitler! Of course he's livid - denouncing it as hypocrisy - that ... read on ...

- SIOE England, No Sharia Here and SIAD Denmark are carrying "The Annual International Islam Apostasy Day" - "SIOE believes that many who call themselves moderate Muslims are in fact closet apostates and are people desperate to leave Islam, but are too afraid to say so ... therefore, to encourage people wishing to leave Islam ...

(The)Annual International Islam Apostasy Day is the second Friday in October! In 2007 this is Friday October 12. Those wishing to leave Islam ... should congregate in the central square of their state capital on Friday October 12 wearing a plait of green, yellow and blue ribbons for mutual identification. Strength in numbers is the key. Be brave, be bold, be free! Better coordination may be achieved by using forums on websites such as:

- SIOE England, No Sharia Here: "The Brunei Times accuses Europe of Racism" - reproducing The Brunei Times' article "Eye on Europe's Islam Hypocrisy", authored by Ms Eva Vergaelen, a Belgian freelance activist eh ... journalist, and a recent convert to Islam. It is a highly inflammatory piece of invective, filled to the brim with deliberate factual errors, revisionism and bent logic. It is written in rather bad English and in a confrontational tone, reminiscent of afore mentioned Abu Jahjah.

Come to think of it, the piece is an almost verbatim copy of afore mentioned articles on the Belgian site HLN.BE, in which Abu Jahjah is denouncing the hypocrisy of the appeal to moderate Muslims in terms of a train running straight into the direction of an 'enlightened Kristallnacht'. It is obvious, Abu Jahjah and Ms Vergaelen are in collusion: he prompts her and she - as "free lance journalist, with special interests in gender politics and identity" (that's the class next door to Critical Theory) channels it on to spread its poison within the Dar-al-Islam.

The irrational logic goes about like this: because the Queen of England is also the Head of the Church of England the West isn't really all that secular, whereas Islam, familiar as it is with the separation of state and religion (Ali Abd Al-Raziq (1888-1966) saying that "Islam is a message of God and not a system to govern a worldly state"), "Islam can fit in whatever political system that its citizens choose a nice example of democracy." [sic]. And I say to Ms Eva "I am a little dumb" Vergaelen "one swallow no enlightened Muslim summer makes, and the royal exception confirms the rule"!

- SIAD Denmark: "Egypt and Arab News" - "Let me thank you for your effort regarding the conservation of the values of civilization against the tyranny of barbarianism here in the muslim world ... the authorities in the middle east claim that "islam is peaceful" ... they are fundamentalists & cruel & DO hate the "other" ... the truth is - and im speaking from INSIDE the arab & muslim world - is that they are a real danger to the civilization & Europe in specific [sic] >>> read it all ...

... and another story of Muslim disrespect for local culture: "Italy-News by "Lepanto". And here a typical example for Freddy-to-my-knowledge-not-a-single-rule-specific-to-the-Islamic-religion-is being-enforced-I see-no-indication-that-a-large-majority-of-our-Muslim-population-is-demanding-any-such-thing-Thielemans. No, they don't need to, as this is the method how it's done! You wanna have a religiously neutral public space? Fine! We no veil, you no Christmas tree nor Easter Eggs!

While there's no going back at this stage, it cannot harm to evaluate some that has been written in the last few days.

Brussels Journal: "Brussels Mayor Warns: 9/11 Demonstrators Are Criminals":

FT: "First and foremost the organizers have chosen the symbolic date of 9/11. The intention is obviously to confound the terrorist activities of Muslim extremists on the one hand and Islam as a religion and all Muslims on the other hand."

The date of 9/11 is a brave choice and very symbolic. The link with Islamization by stealth does however provide an adverse mayor with the legal basis he is looking for to deny his permission. Having said that, as this particular generalization is apparently a huge No-No - while "'t was the Dews that did 9/11" isn't (perhaps someone needs pressing charges) - facilitating a club of loonies, who are basically accusing a friendly nation's government of having murdered 3,000 innocent people in cold blood for political gains, is not an offence.

FT: "To my knowledge not a single rule specific to the Islamic religion is being enforced in similar fashion. And I see no indication that a large majority of our Muslim population is demanding any such thing."

BJ provides part of the answer: "Contrary to what the mayor says, rules specific to the Islamic religion are being imposed upon society as a whole. For instance, Brussels has segregated swimming hours for women in public pools; Brussels public schools serve halal meat; Muslims slaughter sheep in the streets of Brussels.

Where are the animal rights activists when you need them? Oh, they're with FruitCakes United!

Snaphanen weighs in, in reference to the recent Doctors United actions in Scotland: "Apparently the bureaucrats believe that the would-be bombers were demanding sandwich-free offices in Glasgow hospitals during Ramadan."

Muslims normally only hit the streets in anger about perceived grievances; they do not do so, in demand of specific rights. They are more clever than that. Ask CAIR c.s. how the West's legal systems are being played like a piano forte. The Islamization by stealth process is supported by our own usefuls through coinciding ideology (see Chart I: the Straight Red Line), by dhimmitude through intimidation (see above example provided by Snaphanen), and through jurisprudence.

Consider the text of Leftards United: "Recently the French Minister for Housing and the City Mme Christine Boutin expressed her doubts about the official 9/11 report. Before, Michael Meacher, secretary of state in Britain and Andreas Von Bulow, ex Minister from Germany, stated clearly that 9/11 and the war on terror are orchestrated by the Bush administration ... They agree the 9/11 attacks and other terrorist acts, no matter if they were carried out by some so-called Afghan cavemen or by the governments themselves, inflicted the current policy of fear ..."

We've already seen that accusing a friendly government of cold blooded mass-murder isn't punishable by any contemporary liberal law. Cowards United are hiding behind a battery of European government officials with whose accusations they say to agree. What these various officials are doing is a disgrace and a diplomatic scandal, but at no time are Lobotomy United linking terrorism with a specific culture, religion or race. Therefore it might be of some importance to find out what was really being said here and by whom.

Therefore the organisers of SIOE call upon all to carry on and join the demonstration anyway,  because enough is enough. Mayor Freddy "Champagne Charlie" Thielemans' prohibition of the Brussels rally is informative in more ways than one. He's not just showing his true totalitarian Socialist colours, not merely wiping his feet on the basic rights of indigenous Europeans, his prohibition is also a slap in the face of families that made personal sacrifices to ensure, that Europe would be democratic, and free of dictators with grandiose vistas of bringing about their version of a collective Utopia by coercion.

Consider the latest update from SIOE HQ: an open letter to Freddy Thielemans, reading:

"Dear Sir: You obviously need a historical reminder. My Father served in the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II. The Bloggers:
- Halal Pig International: "We'll March to Celebrate Freddy Thielemans' Birthday!"
- The invective on the Halal Pig French language site is screened behind a Blogger censor disclaimer (so incorrect, all those democratically expressed opinions!)
- The Belgian Hunter (De Jager) is pointing to a prior demo in Denmark and asks "Who's aggressive here?"
- Dutch politician Geert Wilders' Forum for Freedom is worried. The Forum lists a number of obstacles:

- The demo is being held mid-week, reason why many people shall not be able to participate.
- There is no direct political trigger for the march, for example impending European legislation expected to have a negative impact on further Islamization.
- Another problem is that Neo Nazis have already taken an interest. This was anticipated, reason why participants have been urged to observe the rules set out by the organization. This notwithstanding the trolls have already booked transportation. Regretfully the democratic anti Islamists have not managed to claim ownership and organize bus transport themselves. This can still happen. In any case it will be difficult to have the demo radiate the required message: Pro Democracy and Anti Islamization [siq]. (Otherwise Very Free translation.)

The SIOE organization predicts that on 11th September the Belgian capital Brussels, seat of the European Union, will be a little more crowdy than usual this year.

- Christian pilgrims are going to Brussels to visit the religious places of interest: Brussels cathedral and the old churches that litter the historic centre of Brussels.

- Tourists will flock to the outdoor cafes and pubs around the vast square of the Grote Markt (or Grand Place) for a pint of Jupiler.

(Who will be curiously absent are nationalists and extremists, for good reason.)

As if by serendipity, a great number of visitors will remember that day the old gospel song of protest, that speaks of the promise of liberty, of freedom from slavery and oppression: "We Shall Overcome".

As long as people will not see, that the chains of servitude have been replaced by the shackles of Collectivism - because the mentality of slaves is such, that the uncertainties and responsibilities that come with liberty, fill him with a paralyzing fear - we shall not be free but always seek to impose new tyrants to calm the irrational phobias.

In Europe it has been like that since Rousseau made the fundamental mistake that man - in the absence of God, the magnate that predisposes him towards the good - would instead descend into a ruthless struggle for personal supremacy, Brussels Socialist mayor Freddy Thielemans' "onmenselijke logica van het profijt", the inhuman logic of profit.

Is it any wonder he prohibits the march of free people who stand up for human autonomy - liberty as described by John Locke, de Montesquieu, de Tocqueville, Adam Smith and John Stuart Mill?

The slaves have found a sedative for their fear of freedom in collectivism and egalitarianism, which they erroneously believe is the 'common good'. Their demand we all submit to it - to honour the commonality - should tell them something of the character of their ideology.

Radical Islam is but the latest in a long line of ideological panaceas for a non-existent evil: the result of man's distrust of himself. Consider the words of an essayist we'll hear more of in these pages, Wildmonk:

"... the "common will" that Rousseau developed ... (f)ar from being a moderating influence and a force for preventing the excesses of Capitalism, (it) became the most savage, bloody instrument of oppression in the history of mankind".

The Reign of Terror during the French Revolution, the Russian Revolutions, Communism and Socialism in its various other guises, National Socialism (Nazism), China's Great Leap Forward, Cambodia (the latter two thanks to Rousseau's peaceful agrarian tribalism): this is the track record of Counter-Enlightenment ideology. The figures are staggering! Communism alone is good for 110 million dead, casualties of World War II as a result of Nazism, 72 million!

It should put to deep shame the Left's perpetual meme of egalitarian Collectivism's moral high ground!

Wildmonk: "The conclusion is inescapable that Rousseau's multi-headed hydra is genocidal in its practice regardless of its justification in philosophy. Nonetheless, Rousseau's philosophical descendants enjoy considerable support in both American and European academia and among the European media and political elite. Genocide is no deterrent to this support ..."

With this state of conduct the remnants of egalitarianism, answering to the ridiculous abbreviation, Pomo (Postmoderns), would have us quietly submit to the latest Collectivist concoction, their Unholy Alliance with Radical Islam (see Chart I: The Straight Red Line) under the threat of senseless violence and terrorism.

It's well known they've done away with history, which in their linguistic tradition of hysterical hyperbole is characterised as "just waive after waive of ethnic cleansing". That's probably a good second after hecatomb after hecatomb on the alter of man's fear of himself, of what he'd become, if genuinely free? And so the vicious circle of the delusion of 'forced submission to the common good' perpetuates itself.

Why not celebrate the new millennium with true human progress: let's convince our misguided, fearful brethren of their persistent common error: come visit Brussels on 9/11 and sing away the demons of phobia that keeps them shackled to their chains: We Shall Overcome The Fear of Ourselves ... Some Day!

In some political circles it is said that it is especially during silly season - when the attention span under the combined pressures of sand, sea and sun is at its lowest - that the highest state of alert is required: it is then when the dangers of irreversible, accomplished facts on the ground, are at their highest. So, despite the low ebb there are a few noteworthy news items circulating.

- SIOE 9/11 Update:

The mayor of Brussels has declined to give his blessings to the "Stop Islamization of Europe" demo planned for 9/11 on the grounds that "public safety cannot be guaranteed". I think this poses a serious problem. It lays bare to what extent the enlightened dictatorship in the European Union has progressed. Obviously, the prospects of security conditions for the rally getting any better by themselves in the foreseeable future, are negligible.

This means that the civil rights of a large chunk of citizens will have to be suspended indeterminately. This is clearly unacceptable. I do hope the SIOE organization will stay in touch with the Brussels authorities and press on to them that civil rights cannot be suspended forever. Perhaps the mayor can offer a counter proposition?

Update: I just had the opportunity to read some of the comments on the SIOE site. Although no pleasure, it's an education! The combined forces of Radical Islam and the scions of the collective Counter-Enlightenment have already established entire Sharia enclaves. The question is: how many more? Why do free citizens use the term 'haram'? Think about it ...

Update on the update: The Petition in favour of the rally, addressed to the mayor of Brussels, can be signed here. I request anybody who's sympathetic to its cause to sign it - no matter how remote you are from Brussels (physically I'm some 3000 kilometers removed, but mentally the distance can only be measured in lightyears).

- Kosovo Update:

Brussels mayor, Freddy Thielemans (Socialist Party) has let be known a short while ago through a press release, that the Danish organization of the "Stop Islamization of Europe" (SIOE) rally scheduled for 9/11, can consider itself banned on the grounds that "public safety cannot be guaranteed."

The latter, says the organization in a post on their blog, is proof that such action, is long overdue.

"SIOE's message through the 4 slogans is exactly to warn against conditions such as these, where people no longer can use their freedom of expression and feel secure, but the shocking facts are that these conditions already reign at the heart of the EU.

SIOE's demonstration will of course happen, as a peaceful utterance of opinion, an utterance of opinion for which Moslems have countless times received permission to demonstrate in Brussels.

Therefore it is, of course, completely absurd to ban a peaceful demonstration because they are afraid of violent muslim counter-demonstrators! The mayor in Brussels is not fully aware of his responsibility, for as a mayor at EU's capital you cannot simply forbid ordinary European citizens to express their constitutional freedoms.

Were he mayor in Antwerp or any other town in Belgium, he would equally have to allow the freedom of expression to exist, but precisely a Socialist mayor at EU's capital has a greater responsibility, not just to Brussels' own citizens, but also to the citizens of the EU as a whole. You must expect
that when the capital in the EU is called Brussels. It will it be necessary for the people to influence politicians in Brussels, among other things through demonstrations and delivery of petitions.

Hear, hear!

And if that is not enough, we've also got to deal with:

Media in the Netherlands are suppressing news about the plans altogether.

N.B. To the Greek readership: the organization is still looking for Greek volunteers for translation jobs!
